News - The Winds of Change: Langen launches new stainless steel cartoners
Langen Packaging has introduced two new cartoners – the BREEZE and VENTO – offering true value-for-features in the horizontal cartoning market. The BREEZE and VENTO are a continuation of the successful Chinook program and boast the same build quality and same stunning features for mid-range applications, while providing product flexibility in a standard product. Since their early summer release in Europe, several customers have already recognized the technical similarities transferred from the Chinook, itself famous for its proven speed and reliability, by placing orders. The Langen VENTO will be exhibited at Pack Expo 2006 and is now available in North America. These standard machines are based on a modular construction, which allows Langen to offer them at a very competitive price with short delivery times, whilst retaining the high standards of build quality and finish expected from Langen. With the addition of a standard product infeeds, such as groupers and stackers traditional or robotic, the new machines create value as entire and economical packaging solutions.
The BREEZE and VENTO are offered in intermittent and continuous motion versions (respectively) enabling them to be linked to a wide range of existing equipment. Both are ideal for more standard cartoning applications in the food (including fresh, frozen and prepared) and consumer goods sectors, while retaining the attractive and practical features of the Chinook, including fully stainless steel construction, servo driven movements and quick change over features including pre-sized templates for carton blank size changes. The fall-through design will also be welcomed by customers looking for hygienic qualities.
- BREEZE - up to 80 cartons/min in the intermittent motion; carton sizes in a 7.5 and 15” pitch
- VENTO - up to 250 cartons/min in the continuous motion; carton sizes up to a 9” pitch

A key aspect of the new machines is the lower parts count. The result of lean engineering and customer interaction, the BREEZE and VENTO have 25% fewer parts than the Chinook (the Chinook already boasts ½ the parts count of traditional cartoners). Lower parts counts lead to more competitive pricing and easier maintenance and Langen says that the smallest details of the BREEZE and VENTO machines were all carefully thought out.
